Sustain:

  • To supply with necessities or nourishment; provide for.
  • To support from below; keep from falling or sinking.
  • To support the spirits, vitality, or resolution of; encourage.

Organic farmers know that if they only take nourishment from the soil and simply replenish it with chemical fertilizers, the food grown in that soil is neither healthy nor nourishing. The soil ends up completely depleted.

The same can be said for human beings.

That is why the children at New Village School are received with interest and respect. It’s why we offer nourishing content to help them expand their inner horizons and create colorful inner landscapes. With such a foundation, they will have a much better chance of responding to the challenges of a twenty first century life with its highly volatile developments.

We find that children who haven’t been given the time and tools to develop inner strength become dependent on entertainment and consumerism in order to define and give meaning to their existence.

Yet children who are continually nourished, like the soil lovingly tended by an organic farmer, feel free to expand and develop their unique personas. They can regenerate themselves when they are depleted. And when life’s challenges arise – and they always do – these children can deal with them by calling on their own inner responses.

The education at the New Village School offers children tools to develop themselves in a way that will enable them to retain the vitality of body, mind and spirit.
